It has the highest minarets in Turkey and at its highest point, stands taller than the Ayia Sofia in Istanbul. Ancient Kition was first used as a center for copper mining, but eventually developed into a bustling port city. Larnaka’s salt lake is another reason for Kition’s commercial success.
